Improving Breast Implant Problems with the Lipoflap Procedure

Providing the Best in Natural Breast Reconstruction to Orlando & nearby areas of Florida

Fat grafting can improve the appearance of certain complications associated with breast implants after breast augmentation, including:

  • Capsular contracture
  • Rippling and wrinkling
  • Visible breast implant contours

Unfortunately breast implants are not a natural part of the body so problems such as capsular contracture and implant rippling may occur.

For women with little breast tissue to conceal a breast implant, rippling can be highly visible. Saline implants are particularly susceptible to wrinkling. By delivering fat to your breast, the implant can be better concealed behind the fat so that rippling will not be visible. This procedure I call the Lipoflap procedure that I developed as an adaption of a breast reconstruction procedure.

Fat grafting can be used to help thicken the tissues and pad the implants to camouflage rippling, as well as camouflage the firmness of mild capsular contracture or hardening. Capsular contracture occurs when scar tissue tightens around the breast implant, causing the breast to feel firm and look abnormal. There is some evidence that fat grafting may actually soften the scar tissue-thickening associated with capsular contracture. In moderate cases of contracture, fat can restore a desirable breast shape.
